President’s Message re: April 19 events in Nova Scotia

23 Apr 2020

Dear Allisonians;

The Pro community offers its deepest condolences to everyone affected by this past weekend’s tragic events. Our hearts and thoughts are with our neighbours in Nova Scotia. As Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said just a few days ago, “This week we are all Nova Scotian.”

University flags have been lowered to half-mast in honour of all victims, their families, friends, and work colleagues.

Recently, we learned that one of the victims was Lisa (Kierstead) McCully, a Pro alumna who graduated in 1993. Her contributions at Pro, and well as her dedication to helping others throughout her career as an educator will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. Pro alumni and the entire Allisonian community extend special condolences to Lisa’s family and friends.

I appreciate the stress and anxiety these kinds of events cause, especially when it is so close to home. If you need help, please reach out. Our Wellness Centre counsellors are available for virtual appointments with students. For faculty and staff, the University’s Employee Assistance Program is available, details below.

Take care of each other,

Dr. Jean-Paul Boudreau
President, Pro
